A BIG RELAY THANKS
Thank you to our amazing teams, volunteers and sponsors who supported our 16 Relay Events around New Zealand held in February and March.
With your help we have raised almost $2.7million dollars. This is a tremendous result and given the tough times is testimony to the generosity of the Kiwi spirit.
These funds will be prudently put to good use including practical support and information for cancer patients and their families, health promotion to reduce risks of getting cancer and funding for cancer research.
We look forward to seeing you again in 2011.

"The whole event was a beautiful experience.
Just to be part of it was awesome!"
Relay For Life is a magnificent, fun-filled overnight event that brings tens of thousands of New Zealanders together every year to:
People from all ages and walks of life put together teams of friends, families, colleagues, sports or community groups and take on the challenge of raising FUNds to raise awareness and celebrate survivorship.
Gathering together at the overnight Relay For Life event in their area, they run the Relay to Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back, supporting the individuals and members of their community who are dealing with cancer.
Relay For Life highlights are the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the Survivors Walk, and the Candle Light Ceremony.
The Cancer Society of New Zealand is a non-goverment organisation funded through the generosity of individuals and businesses. Funds raised at Relay For Life help the Cancer Society continue its extraordinary work making sure cancer survivors get access to free services and information and support from the moment of diagnosis right through to treatment and recovery. Business sponsorship at Relay For Life helps to cover the cost of staging the event so that more of the funds raised can go towards research and programmes that support cancer prevention, detection and treatment and support and information.
"I couldn’t have made it without the Cancer Society. People don’t realize how much help the Cancer Society gives the caregivers. If someone recommends getting help from the Cancer Society, I say, take it. You only have to knock on the door and they are there for you".
